1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni
The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the most recent in the Ecovacs range of robot vacuum mop hybrids. This model that is wet-dry is fitted with Ecovacs' upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system, which offers improved mapping and obstacle avoidance. The system uses dual laser LiDAR that is similar to that used in self-driving vehicles. It can scan a space that is up to 32 feet by 270 degrees. This translates to more precise mapping, quicker response times, and higher cleaning accuracy.
It also features an adjustable mopping pad made of chenille fabric. This makes it easier to scrub tough spots unlike traditional mopping. During my testing the X2 Omni took just over one minute to clean its pad and get to work, and I noticed it was much more accurate than the previous models, which seemed to follow a gridded route around rooms. It was able to navigate the corners and edges of my rooms, and also create "Zambani patterns" both in and out of the middle of the room. It returned to its OMNI Station frequently to empty the dust bin and clean the mop with hot water, before starting another task of cleaning.
Like other Ecovacs products, the X2 Omni is easy to set up and start using. Snap the dock into position connect it to the power outlet and connect it to your home WiFi network. It takes just about a minute. You can then open the app to start your first cleaning project. I was able to modify my floor plan in less than 15 minutes. This included creating restricted areas for sweeping and mopping, reworking the placement of furniture that is mounted on walls, and more. The X2 Omni performed impressively during my tests, with excellent scores in debris removal and pet hair cleaning and near-perfect results in cleaning crevices and edges.
2. Deebot T10 Omni
The T10 Omni from ECOVACS is a powerful mopping and vacuum machine. It is the most sophisticated of the T-line offered by the brand and features the brand new OZMO Turbo2.0 mopping system that makes use of a dual-spinning brush to provide better cleaning than conventional scrubbing. It also comes with YIKO integrated, a first-of-its kind natural language processing tech that allows it to respond to a range of voice commands. You can make use of the ECOVACS app to map your home, set up cleaning schedules and adjust settings.
The main drawback of the T10 Omni is that it's unable to switch from mopping to vacuuming in one run. The two modes require that you attach and remove the mop heads as needed which is great for most homes, but not an ideal choice for those with busy lifestyles.

However, it doesn't come with a removable tray, which means that dirty water, dust, and other grime gradually build up on the bottom of the tray over time.
3. RoboVac X8 hybrid
This is the first mopping model from Anker which is well-known for its robot vacuums. It comes with improved smarts, multiple map support and LIDAR scanning, as well as twin-turbine suction technology that adapts to the surface you're cleaning. It's a mid-range cleaner that's appealing even if its claim of being a one-stop-shop for floor cleaning doesn't quite be realized.
The X8 Hybrid looks like a traditional robotic vacuum cleaner from the top with its circular shape with sweeping wheels and an elevated space for sensors. On the other hand, you'll see a motorised floorbrush as well as a single side brush that moves dust away from the edges and into the main path of its'mouth.' It's a bit smaller than the main brushes on the rival iRobot Roomba S9, which I discovered makes it easier to access under sofas and chairs.
Its mapping system is fairly sophisticated, allowing you to set no-mop zones and specific cleaning zones. It has a tendency of hitting things such as its charging station, and isn't very good at navigating over carpets. It did a great job of picking up pet hair on floors that were not paved however, and during our tests, it picked up 89.5% of kitty litter - a figure that is higher than any of the most powerful robots we've examined.
The X8 Hybrid is controlled via an app, but it also has physical buttons at its base. These buttons allow you to select a cleaning mode or turn the robot on/off. You can also use them to set no-go zones and see real-time maps. It's a bit chatty and will let you know what it's going to do next ("start cleaning") or alert you that something's not right (it isn't able to charge, for example).
4. ILIFE A4s
This high-tech vacuum model is able to pick up pet hair, kibble and other debris with great efficiency. It also moves effortlessly around furniture legs. It has a feature set that is impressive, such as two cleaning modes, an automatic docking station, and real-time obstacles avoidance technology. It is Wi-Fi-enabled and is best controlled via the Neato app where cleaning can be scheduled and the overall maintenance requirements monitored. The X2 Omni is a great option for homes with a mix of carpet and hard floors. However, it will need some planning ahead to avoid getting caught by electrical cables, toys or other obstacles that might be unexpected.
In our tests of hardwood floors and kibble, this robot performed well and was able to take everything from a single grain of rice to several pieces of dog food in just one pass. It had some trouble with rugs however, in general, this vacuum cleaner is great for large rooms that have floors of different types as well as a mixture of pets.
The A4s Pro is a bit expensive but it's an excellent purchase for those who want to be able to leave the house without hands so that they can take on other tasks or take care chores. The A4s Pro also offers a handy auto cleaning mode that boosts suction power to tackle tough dirt and spills, and it includes batteries that power the ElectroWall that allows you to define boundaries where the robot is not allowed to access.
This budget-friendly model from a popular upstart brand is the most affordable robot we've tested yet and offers an outstanding value for cost. Its navigation system is based on a very basic random pathing algorithm and it's not equipped to map rooms. This renders it less efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able get under furniture and into the corners. Mopping mode performed well in our tests, picking up stray hair and other debris.
5. Shark iQ
Shark's iQ isn't quite as sturdy as the Roomba S9, but it does better overall at cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It cleans floors that are bare more thoroughly and does a fair job on carpets with a low pile and makes use of smart-pathing navigational technology for greater maneuverability. It also lets you send it to a specific area, and its advanced suite of automation features includes no-go zones as well as scheduling. It also lets you to pause and resume cleaning sessions which is ideal for homes with pets.
Its self-cleaning brushroll is able to prevent tangles and can hold up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It also comes with a set of angled side brushes that penetrate into corners and its multi-stage filtration system captures dust, dander, and allergens for cleaner air.
This vacuum feels solid and well-constructed, and it comes with an app for smartphones that lets you change the settings of your vacuum and schedule cleaning sessions in advance. The app lets you see the iQ's remaining battery life and also receive notifications via push for any issues it encounters during its cleaning process. You can utilize your voice to control it with an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device, and if you don't have either options, you can mark areas with physical boundary strips.
The iQ does a decent job of clearing bare floors and doing a fair job on shaggy and low-pile carpet however it lacks the same degree of autonomy as our top choices. It's also expensive and the cost of recurring use can be quite costly.
